Julie Marilyn Reitan Softball Complex

The softball complex at Lincoln Regional Park is named for Julie Marily Reitan (1976-1997). Julie started playing softball when she was 8 years old and played on these same fields. She played for Sahuaro Bobby Sox, Arizona Cats (ASA), Sahuaro High School, Creative Awards, and The University of Arizona.

Julie was a true student-athlete. She graduated from Sahuaro High School in 1994, ranked first in her class with a 4.0 GPA. She ran track and cross country and played volleyball and softball, leading her softball teams to the State Championship in 1992 and 1993.. Julie accepted a softball scholarship from The University of Arizona where she played on teams that won the NCAA Division I National Championship in 1996 and 1997.

Julie was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when she was 11 years old. Tragically, she died of low blood sugar at the age of 21.
