Effective December 1, 2010, a $5 filing fee (per case) will be assessed for motions filed on post-adjudicated parking, civil infraction and civil traffic cases. This fee must be paid before your motion will be accepted and processed. This applies to motions filed by mail, FAX or in-person.
Tucson City Court receives motions (requests) daily from defendants, victims and witnesses asking for a decision from a judge on a particular case. The actions requested through motions may include payment of fines, more time to show proof of what the judge ordered, change a sentence, requests to change the date or time of a court date.

Guidelines for filing a motion:
- Write the name of the defendant, docket number and citation number (legibly)
- Clearly state the reason for motion (e.g., to change court date, need more time to make payment or need more time to show proof of what judge ordered me to do, change the existing order the judge gave me)
- Include full name, current address and phone number, of the person making the request (legibly)
- To ask for more time on a criminal case (e.g., pre-trial, bench trial, review hearing, etc.), the motion (request) must be taken to the City Prosecutor’s Office (103 E. Alameda, 5th Floor) for them to review and sign, before submitting the motion (request) to the Court
- If you are requesting to change "conditions of release" (if you want to have contact with the defendant in a criminal case, or want him/her to return home) and you are the alleged victim, you must provide a picture ID when making your request. Take request to the City Prosecutor’s office on the 5th floor for them to review and sign before you submit to the court
