Domestic Violence Court

In conjunction with the City Prosecutor's Office, Tucson City Court has taken an innovative approach in handling matters of intimate partner domestic violence in a specialty court, whenever circumstances make this possible.

Because victim safety is of the highest concern, defendants on probation in Domestic Violence Court receive a higher level of supervision than would be possible in a more traditional setting. Greater attention is given to defendant accountability, and judges closely monitor a defendant's progress and activities.

The City Prosecutor's Office gladly participates in this modern approach to combating crimes of domestic violence.

Hallmarks of the program include addressing these crimes far more speedily and better serving victims by establishing victim contact in the very early stages of these cases with the assistance of a victim advocate.
